Another original milepost,this one is a short way from Barnton Wharf and the
entrance to Barnton Tunnel.
The original plan was for the canal to follow the edge of the Weaver valley.
However, due to the steep slopes, the risk of landslips forced Hugh Henshall,
the chief engineer, to tunnel at Barnton and nearby Saltersford.
