An original milepost that, at the time I passed it, has also deviated from the
usual black and white colours (see milepost 53).
Behind the wall to the left is the D-road. It was being improved during 2004,
hence the cranes. A short way north was where the branch line known as the
Newcastle-under-Lyme Canal used to link into the canal. This arm finally
dissappeared when the D-road was built.
