Milepost 48 ~ Lime Kiln Lock

Link to view to Lime Kiln Lock Some way below this lock, the Newcastle Road crosses the canal on a bridge. The bridge has a small tunnel for the boat horses and there are also the remains of the wooden rollers that were fitted to prevent damage to the stonework by the ropes.
