This is an original milepost situated between Shobnall Road bridge and the footbridge into
Shobnall playing fields (seen in the distance in one of the pictures). |
The playing fields were the site of the Inland Waterways National Festival and
Boat Show in August 2004.
|
Further downstream of this post is Dallow Lock, the first of the narrow locks at
this end of the canal. The other side of Shobnall Road bridge is Shobnall Basin,
home to Jannel Cruisers. This marks the end of what used to be the Bond End canal
which gave the breweries access to the canal. On the opposite side of the canal
is the Marstons Brewery Visitor Centre.
