Milepost 9 ~ Stenson Lock

Link to picture of milepost This milepost is placed on the upstream side of Stenson Lock, the last of the wide locks at this end of the canal. This lock is also one of the deepest at 12ft 4inches.This is an important milepost because the dedication plate reveals it to be the first milepost that was replaced by the Trent & Mersey Canal Society.

The dedication plate isn't cast like all the other dedication plates (which were cast by Butler Jones, Bognor Regis). The wording on the plate is:
