An original milepost, the plate bearing the initials of the company that cast them is in
keeping with the majority of the rest of the posts and is slightly more ornamental than the
square shape of mileposts 0, 2, 3 and 4. Compare this with the shape of the plate on
any of those mileposts to see the difference.
Until recently, this would have been quite an isolated spot. Since the construction of the A50
trunk road, it is now over-shadowed by a bridge carrying cars and lorries over the canal.
